The NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs were the first to arrive at Winona State when they dispatched their scout, Herman Edwards, the former nine-year, NFL defensive back and standout of the Philadelphia Eagles.
“Hi Wayne nice to meet you, Herman Edwards,” said Edwards, with a firm handshake and a genuine smile.
His name immediately registered with me. I remembered watching Herman’s 1978 Miracle at the Meadowlands performance at Giants Stadium, a stadium surrounded by meadows and cattails and therefore nicknamed, The Meadowlands… I, too, would one day play at the storied Meadowlands.
