Congratulations Wayne!
You have been recognized for your efforts as Faculty/Staff Member of the month for August, 2011. NRHH (National Residence Hall Honorary) exists to ensure that we do not forget to give those necessary and more than deserved, pats on the back! Following is the nomination description as to why you have been selected as Faculty/Staff Member of the month.
Wayne Wicka is an amazing addition to the Winona State University community. He was one of the staff members that headed training the Orientation Leaders for Orientation Week for the incoming freshman, of which I was a part of. Wayne’s warm, energetic personality and his enthusiasm fired up all the Orientation Leaders each time we met with him, and made everyone excited to do our job.
Also, he was a great motivator to the entire group. Wayne is the definition of what a great leader is. He is knowledgeable, energetic, excited, and is a great motivator. Throughout our training, he provided us with the information we need to be great Orientation Leaders, and he presented it in a fashion that kept our interest and yet still gave us the necessary information to succeed.
Wayne even created a catchy “word” that helped us remember what we needed to do in order to be successful Orientation Leaders. This “word” is NILA, which stands for Names, Interaction/Icebreakers, Likeability, and Answers. If we, as the Orientation Leaders, follow this “word’s” advice, then we are sure to be successful as Orientation Leaders.
Wayne’s help with training the Orientation Leaders ensures that every single incoming student feels welcome at Winona State University. He plays a crucial role in ensuring that everyone has a smooth and enjoyable transition to WSU. He deserves an OTM because of all of these reason and more. Wayne truly embodies what it means to be a Winona State University Warrior!”
Thank you for your contribution in helping Winona State University!
